Kindergarten Registration

posted Mar 18, 2021, 6:03 AM by Jaime DeMarchi-Calvi

Welcome Package.png

If you registered your child for Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year, we’re getting ready to send out a welcome package to your little learner! Starting school is an exciting time and we don’t think a global pandemic should dampen the experience.

What’s in the welcome package?

  • An activity book with crayons – we’ve made a colouring book filled with activities and pages for your child to engage their creative mind.

  • A virtual reality headset – have fun exploring kid-friendly apps with your child in VR!

  • Labels for shoes – labels are a Kindergarten parent’s best friend, so we’re gifting you a set to get you started.

  • A sticker and a selfie sign – since we can’t see you in-person yet, we still want to see your child’s excitement! Share your photos online by tagging @OttCatholicSB in your post and using our hashtag #ocsbReady

Tell your friends to register by March 18 to get a package!

To make sure your child gets a welcome to Kindergarten package, make sure your child is registered at their local Ottawa Catholic school by Thursday, March 18, 2021. You can still register your child for school after that date, we just can’t guarantee they will receive a welcome package.

Kindergarten Registration Week

posted Jan 14, 2021, 6:08 AM by Jaime DeMarchi-Calvi

This week is Kindergarten Registration Week (January 11- 15th). If you have friends or family with Kindergarten-ready children who are turning four years old by December 31 2021, they can register online for the 2021-2022 school year now. Please see our KINDERGARTEN PAGE for more information.

We are encouraging parents to register now as it helps us prepare for their child's arrival, and it helps promote Kindergarten readiness. Families who register will receive an excellent new OCSB welcome package in the mail (while supplies last), which helps their child get excited about starting school. The surprise package is filled with tips and activities to help prepare them for Kindergarten.

With COVID restrictions making it impossible for parents to come into schools, OCSB decided to bring the schools to parents! Every OCSB elementary website now has a 3D virtual tour of one of their Kindergarten classrooms!

We will be having a short Google meeting for parent/guardians ro see a short guided tour of the school and to ask questions. Please contact the school via email for details if interested.

Message From Principal St John

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Parents and guardians may apply for Support for Learners funding from the provincial government to help offset costs during the 2020-2021 school year. The deadline to apply is January 15, 2021. Please see this LINK for more details.

As we expect more snow to arrive in the coming weeks, those who drive their children to and from school are reminded to please observe parking signs in neighbouring streets and to ensure that they are not blocking the driveways or paths of other vehicles.

Thank you to all those who have supported the Our Lady of Wisdom School Council's fundraising efforts thus far by ordering takeout from Jonny Canucks. This fundraising event continues until December 20th. If you order takeout from Jonny's, please remember to include "OLW Fundraiser" in the Comments section of the Checkout page when completing your order so that a portion of the proceeds in donated to the OLW School Council.

I wish all of our Owls and their families a very merry Christmas! I pray that even though the holidays may look different this year due to the pandemic that you find a way to safely spend time virtually with family and friends to celebrate this special time of year.

God Bless,

Renee St John
